    New member, parent of gay, special needs 15-year-old, needs resources and insights

    Hi!  I just signed up, and I hope to be at the October meeting at Mayflower.  I just want to throw this out in case anyone has some ideas for helpful resources.  My husband and I are the parents of a 15-year-old boy who  has provided us with ample evidence that he's gay, AND that he's been experimenting sexually with another boy.

    Learning about transgender

    Hi, my 25 year old son has just told me he is transgender and will start hormone therapy soon.  He has a skilled therapist who's helping him through the process.  I would love to talk to other parents who've walked this road.  My reaction is complete surprise, because I have not seen any signs that he was uncomfortable with who he was as far as being male.  He was not raised with strict gender roles, was a very content, happy boy, and allowed to pursue things he was interested…

    Cloudy days are good days too

    Its a dark, rainy morning which makes it hard for me to want to get up. My puppy doesn't even want to go outside and she loves playing in the yard. Days like this make it easy for me to cancel plans and "hang out" indoors.
